Seniors want more advice at the supermarket

Many supermarkets and food producers are not properly set up for affluent senior citizens, this is the result of current consumer research from the German research institute SGS. 76% of the people interviewed who are 60 years or older had doubts when making purchases and felt overwhelmed by all the choices. Lack of advice was a problem: two out of three seniors would like there to be knowledgeable salespeople available so they can ask questions about the products.

This age group is also regularly unsatisfied with the packaging information on the products that they buy. Four out of five customers over 60 are annoyed by the design of product labels. For 65% the wording on the packaging is too small, 55% do not like the unclear abbreviations of additives, and 50% of the interviewed seniors complain that the shelf life date is difficult to find.
