Germany: clearly decreased cauliflower supply

After the cauliflower harvest in the southern and western cultivation areas in Germany had already drastically decreased due to weather conditions, supply from Northern Germany has now also clearly decreased, German Agrarmarkt Informations-Gesellschaft (AMI) reports on its website.

The gap this caused in the German supply can also hardly be plugged by additional produce from Poland or other European countries, according to the AMI. That's because food retail also saw some promotions with low prices in week 35, some less than 1 Euro each, for which cauliflower had to be supplied. At the moment, prices have gone up further since week 34.

A fast relaxation of the tight supply situation doesn't seem to be in sight. Due to the temporary gaps in planting and the slow growth, a clear increase in harvest quantities only seems likely from week 37, possibly even week 38, onwards.
