Germany: cauliflower balanced prices

The 'Deutsche Bauernverband' (DBV) (German Farmers Association) recently shared that this season in Germany there is talk of uniform pricing for cauliflower and that this is normally rather unusual for cauliflower.

Fluctuations in the supply had less of an effect on the price than usual. The price is now approximately at the long term average. In July broccoli was scarce and expensive, but since then the situation has returned to normal. German growers are however worrying about the low prices of radishes this year. The growing area for carrots was not expanded: the harvest area, which is at 580,000 tons, is at the same level it has been for the last two years.

In the first half of the 2014 harvesting season almost all cultures were three weeks earlier than the average for the previous years. Therefore German vegetables were (and are) on the market longer.
