40,000 Brassica food samples will be handed out at Jamie Oliver’s Big Feastival

After a successful first year of the Love Your Greens campaign, August will
see the second year of activities kicked off in style at Jamie Oliver’s Big Feastival.

Over 40,000 Brassica food samples will be handed out across the three-day event next weekend, engaging with tens of thousands of consumers.

The aim of the activity is to challenge perceptions and re-engage consumers with the category, raising awareness of the versatility of Brassica vegetables, and demonstrating how easy they are to cook with. Campaign ambassadors will also be on board to tell people about the health benefits of incorporating more Brassicas into their diet.

Jamie Oliver hosts the event alongside former Blur front man, Alex James, at Alex’s farm in the Cotswolds over the weekend of 29-31 August. It combines the traditional music festival with food from pop up restaurants and family-friendly entertainment.

Musical headliners across the weekend include Kelis and Fatboy Slim, and top chefs Gennaro Contaldo and Gizzi Erskine are already confirmed for live cookery demos.

Matthew Rawson, Chairman of the Brassica Growers’ Association, commented, “This is the first event of its kind that we have got involved with, and we chose the Big Feastival specifically for its family friendly appeal and focus on food. Thousands of people will be in attendance and we’re looking forward to showing them how great greens are.”
