Germans bought more fresh vegetables in the first half of 2014

At 36.1 kg per person, the German consumers have bought around 3% more fresh vegetables in the first half year of 2014 compared to the same period last year, the German Agrarmarkt Informations-Gesellschaft (AMI) reports on its website. The average of the last five years was also exceeded by 1%.

Due to the early season start in Germany it was mainly typical spring vegetables that were sold in larger amounts. But many fruit vegetables were also in higher demand than last year.
