Sapag received the head of SENASA and discussed this possibility

Argentina analyses increasing exports of pears and apples to China

Governor Jorge Sapag and Leandro Bertoya, Minister of Territorial Development, met with Diana Guillen, president of the National Health Service and Food Quality (SENASA), on Monday. During the meeting, the officials talked about the possibility of increasing international exports of products that are grown in Neuquén, such as pears, apples and cherries.

In this regard, Bertoya stated, "Guillen informed us of the previous meetings she has had in the region with the Argentina Chamber of Integrated Fruit Growers (CAFI) and with our technical teams, where they discussed the new trading situation that has opened for Neuquén and the region regarding the agreements with China to export pears and apples."

He also said they had talked "about the possibility of the Russian market, as the traditional markets that provided them have fallen or have been banned. This is an excellent opportunity for the region as there are two markets that require many tons of the products we have. "

Afterwards, the officials conducted a review of the tasks performed jointly by the nation and the province. "We also have another meeting on Wednesday morning with the Minister of Agriculture, the engineer Casamiquela, and cherry producers of Neuquen, Rio Black, Mendoza and Chubut. It will be a meeting to adjust the export mechanisms of this highly competitive high quality product of which we can systematically produce enough volume and for which we need to secure foreign markets," he said.

Meanwhile, the head of SENASA said they had come to perform a ceremonial salute to the Governor and that they had conducted a review of their agenda with the province. "We were talking about the opportunities to export apples and pears to China." Guillen said they had also discussed the process so that Patagonia is recognized as disease free area.
