Farmer no longer supplying Leclerc sees own photo on packaging

A farmer in the Bouches-du-Rhône was surprised to see a photo of himself on a crate of courgettes and aubergines in Leclerc. The label stated that he was the happy farmer who produced the vegetables… He may be an aubergine and pepper farmer, but has never produced courgettes! Whilst he had posed for Leclerc a few years ago, he has not been selling to the retailer for three years now!

Julie Mizoule from the Departmental Syndicat of Young Farmers says ''They use the image of the farmer, but not his products! So what now can guarantee us that such vegetables are even French?''. Leclerc boasts on their website about their ''close and personal relationships with local producers''. However they said in the Figaro that the problem occurred because they passed via an intermediary called Terre d'ici who supplied the wrong photo.
