Tunisian tomato production estimated between 900-950 thousand tons

The Minister of Agriculture's estimations for the 2013-2014 tomato season see the harvest reach 900-950 thousand tons. The Minister stated in a press release that planted tomato acreage reaches 18,390 ha.

Largest tomato acreage is in Nabeul (2,500 ha), followed by Kairouan (2,450 ha), Sidi Bouzid (2,050 ha), Béjà (1,500 ha) and Jendouba (1,253 ha). The quantity of processed tomatoes on the 8th July reached almost 110 thousand tons.
