Michigan State University Extension to host blueberry pre-harvest meeting

In response to challenges facing Michigan’s blueberry growers this season, the Michigan State University Extension small fruit team will host a pre-harvest meeting from 6 to 8 p.m. July 2 at Olive Town Hall, 6480 136th St., Holland.

This year, Michigan’s blueberry growers are facing new challenges related to winter damage and resulting diseases, as well as the threat of the spotted wing drosophila and food safety concerns.

Topics on the meeting’s agenda include winter injury and nutrient management, blueberry disease control, preventing microbial contamination and an update on the blueberry industry. Presentations will be delivered by MSU Extension staff.

Admission to the meeting is free of charge, and attendees are encouraged to register online.
