China: Frozen logistics market growing by 25 % annually until 2017

Demand for frozen logistics services is growing strongly in China, as reported by the German website Fruchthandel.de. Experts from Roland Berger Strategy Consultants expect an average growth of 25 % per year until 2017. The turnover generated by this sector in China in the year 2017 is likely amount to about 470 billion Yuan (55.9 billion Euro).

According to the study, agricultural products will remain the largest sector for frozen logistics companies. The growing demand and the improvement of freezing technology have clearly benefited the fruit sector. "The tremendous growth of frozen logistics in China will offer excellent opportunities to the market players in the future," said Martin Streichfuss, partner of Roland Berger Strategy Consultants. "On the other hand, logistics companies will have to overcome new challenges posed by the changing market."
