"Nathalie Piquemal, Bio&Bio: "Perpignan is an important port for export"

"More and more people are choosing residue free fruit and vegetables"

The demand for organic food is increasing. This was noted by Bio&Bio from France too, as their cooperation has only grown since its foundation in 2008. Bio&Bio supplies wholesalers with their organic fruit and vegetables. The organisation grows organic fruit and vegetables in France and mainly supplies them to wholesalers. The main products are peaches and nectarines (8000 tonnes), apricots (400 tonnes) and broccoli (100 tonnes), said by Nathalie Piquemal of Bio&Bio. Bio&Bio is also located in Spain, Italy and Morocco.

Export

"We offer a total supply of 70 kinds of fruit and vegetables, a diverse assortment and so we can make mixed pallets. We mainly supply our customers in France, but also export to various European countries like Germany, Switzerland, Scandinavia, Spain and the United Kingdom. "We see the demand for organic fruit and vegetables grow every year, and we expect it to continue to do so over the next few years. We select special varieties per product and as the climate and soil here are optimal, are products are highly valued."

According to Nathalie consumers now are more conscious of a healthy lifestyle. "People want healthy food, without residue. In France it is also important to eat quality food, so there is also demand for that. There are a lot of organic growers here, but our growers define themselves with a lot of experience. We are also ideally located in Perpignan, which is an important port for export to other countries. From here we can distribute quickly, so that the products arrive fresh. We also recently built a new storage facility in Perignan, for the optimal storage of fruit and vegetables."
