Oded Jacobson, CEO of Galilee Export, passes away

Mr Oded Jacobson, CEO of the Israeli company Galilee Export, has passed away at the age of 44. He suffered a suspected heart attack during a morning swim.

Eitan Zvi from Galilee Export explains: “Mr Jacobson had a long and successful career, first at Agrexco, where he held many roles, including branch manager of flowers (selling to markets like Russia and Asia), product manager for a number of items, such as Sharon fruit and UK Branch General Manager in 2007, a position he held until 2011, acting also as salesman for grapes and avocados.” At that point, Agrexco collapsed and he returned to Israel, where he founded Galilee Export and, along with Eitan Zvi, established the firm’s entire marketing network.

Galilee Export was established under the auspices of the parent umbrella growers’ organisation, Milouot, one of Israel’s largest cooperatives with more than 1,000 employees and a half a billion Euro turnover, which also controls one of Israel’s largest avocado packing houses.

“Oded is a dynamic, motivated, hardworking and with a great sense of humour, as well as very straight forward,” describes Eitan Zvi. “He leaves behind a wife and three children.”

For the time being, co-founder Eitan Zvi, who had a very close professional relationship with him since they worked together at Agrexco, will replace him.
