Drops below 300,000 tonnes

France: Cauliflower production down by 15%

For the first time since the year 2000, France's cauliflower production has dropped below the 300,000 tonnes. According to the Statistics service of the French Ministry of Agriculture, production volumes have fallen drastically.

During the 2013/2014 campaign, the production will reach 284,000 tonnes; 15% less than in the previous season and 20% below the figures of the past five years. This volume is 100,000 tonnes lower than the average obtained between 2000 and 2012. Nevertheless, the acreage remains unchanged, with 19,200 hectares; just 1% less than last year.
