Xiamen Port ranked 1 in China for Taiwanese fruit imports

Taiwan’s total fruit export to China in 2013 totalled around 21,200 tons (including Hongkong) according to statistics from the Taiwanese Agriculture Committee.

Xiamen Port imported around 12,800 tons of Taiwanese fruits, amounting to 60.38% of total exports of Taiwan (including Hongkong Chinese).

Since 2008, Xiamen port imports have surpassed Shanghai, and Shenzhen becoming the number 1 port for Taiwanese fruits and has maintained its position ever since. The import of these fruits by the Xiamen port has been increasing consecutively for 9 years.

Imported varieties include: sweetsop, grapefruit, pineapple, mango, guava, wax apple, citrus, carambola, orange, jujube, banana, papaya, dragon fruit, persimmon, melon, pear, lemon etc..

The Xiamen Inspection and Quarantine Bureau has taken measures to ensure that Taiwanese fruits are released within 24 hours. They have simplified the procedures, implemented quick checks and quick releases, quick on-site inspection, and quick customs clearances. They have implemented “just-in-time” procedures in order to ensure that it can be checked right away at the docks.
