Samskip Multimodal add 140 new reefers to their fleet

Samskip Multimodal have recently added 140 brand new electric reefers to their fleet so they can transport even more conditioned and perishable goods throughout Europe. The last 50 Samskip Coolboxx cool containers arrived from China earlier this month at Rotterdam's Short sea Terminal.

Improved functionality
Thanks to the improved design where the reefers have smooth interior walls, they are lighter, stronger and easier to keep clean. The major plus point is that the design's flexibility makes it easier to load and unload.

On top of that, capacity has been increased by lowering the tare weight from 5.990 to 5.760 kg. Additionally insulation is 100% CFC free (Cyclopentane) which fits in with Samskips sustainable policy.

Each reefer consists of a high performance Thermo King Magnum Plus generator which has been specially developed for transporting deep frozen, frozen, cooled or heated cargo in temperatures ranging from -30 °C to +30 °C, over long distances.

Sjaak Melissant, General Manager, Samskip Coolboxx, said: "These improvements are designed to expand our network and still offer a sustainable and cost effective solution to our customers along with an improved quality guarantee for transportation of the conditioned and perishable cargo of our customers."
