Colombia: Police find 240 kilos of cocaine in bananas boxes bound for Belgium

The Colombian police seized 240 kilos of cocaine that were hidden in a shipment of bananas destined for the Belgian port of Antwerp.

The Narcotics Division of the Police found the drug, packaged in twenty bags, in a container in the Caribbean port of Santa Marta during an inspection of the cargo of bananas.

The packages found in the boxes were subjected to laboratory testing and were positive for high purity cocaine hydrochloride, the police said in a statement.

In recent months, the police have seized several shipments of cocaine hidden in fruit exports bound for Antwerp in the merchant ships docked in the Caribbean ports of Colombia.
