Jan de Rijk Logistics doubles its inter-modal activity

As of March 31, 2014 Jan de Rijk Logistics has contracted a second dedicated train with TX Logistics between Venlo, the Netherlands and Milan, Italy. The second train will also operate on weekdays in both directions and will carry 64, 45 foot containers per round-trip. All kind of commodities are transported on these trains, varying from retail to industrial goods.

This operation will significantly expand the inter-modal traffic of Jan de Rijk Logistics. On a yearly basis, almost 1,000,000 tons will now be transported between Italy and the Benelux.

As of April 7th, Jan de Rijk logistics will also increase its train traffic between the Benelux and Austria. Besides the current connection with weekly 50 containers between Nuess, Germany to Wels, Austria; the company will now add another 20 containers per week between Nuess and Vienna, Austria.

Transport by train will be the future, due to increased congestion on the road and stricter driving time regulations. Jan de Rijk Logistics will have doubled its inter-modal traffic this year compared with 2 years ago. This increased inter-modal activity also fits very well in the company’s goals to reduce CO2 emissions by 20% in 2015 compared with 2010 levels.
