Spain: FM Logistic joins Green Freight Europe

The logistics operator FM Logistic will join Green Freight Europe, an independent voluntary program intended to improve the environmental efficiency of the road transport of goods.

"As members of this European program for the reduction of COemissions, we will actively contribute to the goal of making the transport of goods and the handling of the logistics chain more sustainable," says Pablo Gómez, director of FM Logistic Iberia and manager for Western Europe. The Green Freight Europe initiative also seeks to promote collaboration between carriers, logistics providers and Government Administrations in the introduction and monitoring of improvements.

By joining this European initiative, FM Logistic has acquired efficient tools for the measuring of its carbon footprint and a proactive approach in the reduction of emissions, which will complement other actions being carried out by the company.

Some of these actions include the environmentally-friendly management of logistics platforms certified by HQE (High Quality Environmental standard) and LEED at its new buildings, and the global environmental handling of logistics processes, with purchases and transport being coordinated to allow for a considerable reduction in CO2 emissions. In Spain, FM Logistic Ibérica has incorporated its first fleet of trucks powered by both compressed and liquefied natural gas, more efficient and environmentally-friendly.

FM Logistic has also been awarded with Ecovadis, which certifies it as a Social Corporate Responsibility operator.
