Ecuador: The rising cost of cardboard increases banana FOB prices

Due to the increased purchase price of imported paper for the production of cardboard, many factories that produce corrugated cardboard, such as CARTOPEL, Incarpalm, GRUPASA, Procarsa, etc., have announced their products prices will increase starting next week.

Products will increase by 10% compared to previous price levels.

This situation will affect all the Ecuadorian exporters who buy cardboard for their export operations, especially those who had signed a one-year contract with fixed prices with their customers.

Banana prices are currently very high due to the low production and high demand abroad.

Current FOB prices range between USD $14.7 and $16.2.

19.5 kilograms of bananas are being sold between USD $12.00 and $13.50.
