First Horticultural World Forum to be held in Mexico

Mexico plans to hold the First Horticultural World Forum with the goal of promoting agriculture and exchanging ideas for innovation in the sector, as reported by the secretary of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food, Enrique Martínez y Martínez.

Within the framework of the welcome supper offered to the exhibitors of Expo Agro Sinaloa 2014, the head of SAGARPA stated that one of the goals of the Forum is to maximise Mexico's potential as an agricultural producer and expand its presence in both the domestic and international markets.

He stressed that Mexico is one of the world's leading exporters of products such as tomatoes, papayas, mangoes and watermelons, among others.

"The horticultural sector is essential for us and it is a context in which we have many strengths, which is why we are working hard to increase our productivity and boost our business opportunities," he concluded.
