India: Cashew prices up on fresh demand

Cashew kernel prices moved up in the range of Rs 5 - Rs 20 per kilo in the wholesale dry fruit market on Wednesday on increased demand from stockists. Cashew kernel (No 180, 210, 240 and 320) rose by Rs 5-20 to Rs 450-460, Rs 360-365, Rs 320- 325 and Rs 275-280 per kilo respectively. Traders said restricted arrivals from producing centres coupled with increased demand from retailers mainly pushed up cashew prices.

Following were today's quotations in Rs per 40 kgs bag: Almond (California) new 8,600 Almond (gurbandi) 5,200 Almond (girdhi) 3,300, Almond kernel (California) 310-311 Almond kernel (gurbandi) (kg) 340-400 and Abjosh Afghani 5,500-12,000.
