CEO Kriel to leave Capespan

Mr Louis Kriel has announced that he will be leaving the services of the Capespan Group at the end of June 2013. Kriel that spent most of his adult career over the past 22 years with Capespan, 12 years of which he spent outside of South Africa, lived through the transformation of the Group since the days of single channel marketing, deregulation and the formation of grower owned Cooperatives, the merger between Outspan and Unifruco and then the formation of Capespan in 1999. Mr Kriel remarked that: “The opportune time has arrived for me to further my career outside of the fruit industry.”

Kriel’s departure is unexpected, however Group CEO, Johan Dique added “It is with great appreciation that we recognise the long and dedicated service by Louis during which he became an icon in the history of Capespan. We certainly wish him well with his future plans and respect his decision.”

Capespan will reflect on its strategy of repositioning as a customer driven business and will make further announcements in due course, which may include some management restructuring.
