OTC - Organics at Fruit Logistica

Germany: The organic industry is crisis proof

OTC-Organics says it is looking forward to meeting existing relations and welcoming new contacts at Fruit Logistica 2013 in Berlin. The Dutch specialist in importing, marketing and exporting fresh organic fruit and vegetables opens up its stand B-07 in Hall 3.2 to discuss business developments, sales opportunities and to start new relationships.

OTC-Organics has quite some topics to discuss at Fruit Logistica. Like the launch of its mobile website and its brand new portal www.otc-organics.com. The latter connects its three individual websites otcholland.com, otcbelgium.com and otc-usa.com. Fred Kloen, commercial director at OTC explains: “With the launch of our mobile websites and our portal, we claim our presence on the web. The final step in our internet strategy is the launch of a secured portal for both suppliers and customers where they can find, view and download all kind of documentation in order to centralize and simplify the exchange of information.”

Such investments are a sign of the current successes of organics in spite of the economic crisis, which was widely anticipated to hit the sector hard. "After four years of crisis, we can only draw one conclusion," says Fred Kloen, "The organic fresh fruit and vegetable business is 100 per cent crisis proof, and so is OTC. The global market for organic fresh fruit and vegetables has continued to grow slowly but steadily. OTC has grown 35 per cent in the past four years, and for 2013 we foresee growth of another 5-10 per cent. We have invested a lot of time and energy to increase our efficiency by improving systems and procedures, including gaining an IFS higher level certification."

In 2013 and the nearby future, OTC remains on the lookout for new opportunities, such as in Asia, the Middle East and eastern Europe. Kloen: “More customers are looking for year-round availability of organics, so as of October 2012 we have responded by starting direct imports from Spain to complement our Southern Hemisphere supplies. Therewith we strengthen our position as a dedicated and professional organic service provider. On our brand new portal otc-organics.com we have placed this funny and simple but very straightforward animated film which explains who OTC is, what we stand for and how we work: OTC-Organics, organic produce sold in the best way.”
