Germany: New formats and new looks for the supermarket sector

New formats and new looks for the supermarket sector – where is the retail trade going?

Nothing is as constant as change, especially in the food trade. From the full-range supermarket to the hard discounter, all players in the retail sector continue to work on their image. With new formats, new shop designs, a wider selection of brand products from discounters – all aimed at conveying a message of quality to the consumer.

But what's next? How will new trends like online shopping and smart shopping affect food retail? Will they bring new sales revenues? Improved margins across the entire value chain? What about suppliers?

The 32nd Fresh Produce Forum will take place on Tuesday, 5 February 2013 from 15:30 to 19:00 in the ICC Berlin (Saal 15.2). International experts from the research community and different levels of the retail sector will be on hand to analyse the current situation and take a look at what's to come. Speakers include Prof. Dr. Hendrik Schröder (University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany), Matthias Queck (discount market expert at Planet Retail, UK/Germany), Hans-Jürgen Kirsch (Director, Product Range Management, Fruits, Vegetables, Flowers and Plants, Globus SB-Warenhaus Holding GmbH & Co. KG, Germany), Alain Vialaret (CEO of Blue Whale, France), Dr. Paul Zandanel (Head of Marketing at EOS – Export Organization South Tyrol, Italy) and Helmut Hübsch (Key Account Manager, GfK SE, Division GfK Panel Services, Germany).

The EUR 85 participation fee includes a 3-day ticket to Fruit Logistica. Register here.
