Brazil secures opening of Azerbaijani market for grape exports

An agreement brokered by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has enabled the opening of the Azerbaijani market for Brazilian grape exports, expanding the country's presence in international markets and adding a new destination.

The export of grapes to Azerbaijan was formalised following negotiations between the authorities of both countries. This destination was previously unavailable for Brazilian grapes.

In 2025, total trade between Brazil and Azerbaijan reached US$24 million. The inclusion of grapes in the export portfolio is expected to support trade volumes.

According to the Center for Advanced Studies in Applied Economics, the approval forms part of a broader expansion of market access for Brazilian agribusiness, driven by coordination between the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

With this addition, Brazil has reached 591 market openings for agribusiness exports since the beginning of 2023, reflecting efforts to diversify trading partners.

The opening of the Azerbaijani market creates an additional outlet for grape exports. The Brazilian grape export season is concentrated in the first half of the year, which supports the management of domestic supply by directing part of the production to external markets.

This export channel is expected to contribute to balancing supply in the domestic market during the peak export period.
