New celebration potato variety supplied from Suffolk farm

M&S has introduced a new potato variety into more than 200 stores across the UK through a partnership with Suffolk-based Home Farm Nacton. The farm, located on the Orwell Park Estate, is supplying celebration potatoes, which have a patterned skin and yellow flesh suited to roasting, boiling, or use in salads.

Home Farm Nacton produces 26 crops and operates with a core workforce of 35 employees, increasing during peak seasons. The farm spans 1,170 hectares on the north bank of the Orwell estuary. Its sandy soils, mild winters, and coastal influence support potato cultivation.

The celebration potato is grown exclusively for M&S as part of the retailer's range focused on new and distinct varieties sourced by its agronomy team. Home Farm Nacton is a long-term supplier and participates in M&S farming initiatives, including programmes centred on soil management and water use. The farm uses regenerative techniques and is part of the Felixstowe Hydrocycle scheme, which recaptures surplus water for irrigation.

Managing Director Andrew Francis said celebration potatoes have a distinctive appearance and flavour profile and noted that the farm focuses on soil and water management to support crop quality and long-term land stewardship.

M&S senior agronomist Harry Wilder said the retailer aims to introduce new varieties through its discovery range and that the crop arrives in stores ahead of seasonal demand shifts.
