Nayarit can now export avocado to the U.S. for the first time

For the first time in its history, Nayarit received approval to export avocados to the United States, making it one of only three certified regions in Mexico to do so, alongside Michoacán and Jalisco.

This progress is thanks to Governor Miguel Ángel Navarro Quintero's leadership and ongoing management, which have advanced plant health, increased productivity, and strengthened Nayarit's countryside like never before.

Thanks to these efforts, coordination between Senasica (Mexico's agri-food health agency), USDA-APHIS (US Department of Agriculture), and the General Directorate of Plant Health was improved. After inspections in San Pedro Lagunillas and Santa Maria del Oro, authorities confirmed Nayarit fully meets the strict phytosanitary standards in the "Operational Work Plan (OWP), Systems Approach for the Importation of Fresh Hass Avocado from Mexico to the United States."

This certification will help Nayarit boost its economy, create new opportunities for producer families, and establish itself on the global agri-food map.

This achievement marks a new chapter for the state, highlighting the government's dedication to a competitive, prosperous countryside ready to conquer global markets.
