On October 1, 2025, hoki GmbH took over Martin Dradrach, a specialist fruit and vegetable packaging retailer based in Herxheim, Germany. As part of the takeover, the company also acquired the skilled sales and logistics staff, along with their expertise and passion for innovative products, and their commitment to ensuring a smooth transition in customer relations. The company will make its first appearance in its new guise at expoSE 2025.
The well-known and proven range from Dradrach, including corrugated cardboard baskets, trays, paper carrier bags, and much more, will continue to be available in the future. "However, it will be expanded to include a wider range of adhesive crates, made from both corrugated and solid cardboard. The implementation of customers' individual packaging and printing requirements will also remain a focus of the business," the company reports on request.

Everything under one roof
For almost 50 years, hoki GmbH, which now has over 120 employees, has been meeting the logistical challenges of professional cleaning of reusable plastic crates. The company currently operates two locations, in Mutterstadt in the Palatinate and in Sangerhausen (Saxony-Anhalt). Its second mainstay is the mechanical erection of corrugated and solid cardboard crates. Today, Tina Dorsch and Nadine Pirron are the second generation to run hoki GmbH.

The entire machine park was relocated with the purchase of the Dradrach company and the move of the company headquarters to Herxheim. At its modern location (pictured below) in the local industrial park, the company has now expanded its space. "Our main customers continue to be small and large direct marketers, mainly within Germany. Before we think about new markets, we first want to confirm the trust that customers had in the previous company and maintain these relationships. However, we certainly hope to be able to serve customers in the segment of vegetable crate erection who did not overlap with Martin Dradrach's customers with a wider range of products," hoki GmbH continues.

Functional and attractive packaging
With the introduction of the PPWR packaging regulation, the market environment for fruit and vegetable packaging will change fundamentally in the coming years. "We believe that packaging made from monomaterial, such as corrugated cardboard, will be favored and that the general rule will be 'as much as necessary, but as little as possible'. However, the need for packaging remains, and we will continue to offer our customers functional and attractive products in the future, with all the necessary adjustments," they conclude.
