The arrival of Demeter-certified mangos from Brazil: Tommy Atkins and Keitt

As the European mango season concludes, Biotropic has begun importing certified Demeter and organic Tommy Atkins and Keitt mangoes from Brazil. The fruit is sourced from Fazenda Tamandua, a long-term partner of the company known for its biodynamic cultivation practices.

The mangoes, characterized by a mild and sweet flavour, are produced using methods that combine traditional farming knowledge with modern organic approaches. According to Biotropic, the cultivation practices at Fazenda Tamandua focus on soil health, sustainable production, and reduced environmental impact. The fruit is described as having soft pulp and a long shelf life suitable for distribution across European markets.

The mangoes are shipped by sea and will be available from November to January, coinciding with the period after European mango production ends. The seasonal supply aims to maintain continuity in the market while aligning with sustainable sourcing standards.

Biotropic said its collaboration with Fazenda Tamandua reflects the company's approach to supporting responsible agricultural partnerships. The farm's production systems emphasise ecological management and adherence to Demeter certification standards.

The imported mangoes are marketed as versatile for both fresh consumption and food preparation, such as in smoothies or salads. Rich in vitamins and antioxidants, they contribute to the company's organic product portfolio for the winter period.
