The USDA cold storage report for 30 September 2025 indicates notable year-on-year changes across several table grape varieties compared with the same date in 2024.
Autumn Royal
Cold storage holdings for Autumn Royal declined to 139,237 packages in 2025, down from 154,954 in 2024. Bags fell from 131,976 to 119,135, while clamshell volumes more than doubled from 7,365 to 17,598. Plain pack storage dropped sharply from 10,078 in 2024 to 1,579 in 2025.
Autumn King
Autumn King recorded a reduction, with total holdings at 1,038,960 packages in 2025 compared to 1,386,293 in 2024. Bagged volumes fell from 995,497 to 649,169, while clamshells decreased from 272,186 to 73,649. Plain pack storage rose from 65,022 in 2024 to 278,800 in 2025.
Scarlet Royal
Scarlet Royal stocks decreased from 1,951,836 packages in 2024 to 1,359,055 in 2025. Bagged volumes fell from 1,564,148 to 1,092,255. Clamshells increased from 73,340 in 2024 to 155,926 in 2025, while plain pack storage dropped from 193,395 to 59,567.
Red Globe
Red Globe holdings increased to 180,422 packages in 2025, compared with 102,410 in 2024. Bagged stocks rose from 101,697 to 159,341. Clamshells moved from 358 to 1,840, and plain pack storage, which was not reported in 2024, accounted for 15,804 packages in 2025.
Sweet Globe/Sorbet
Storage of Sweet Globe and Sorbet increased to 535,296 packages in 2025, compared with 406,281 in 2024. Bagged volumes rose from 366,559 to 428,602, and clamshells grew significantly from 6,670 to 63,033. Plain pack storage also increased from 17,504 in 2024 to 26,222 in 2025.
Timco
Timco showed a notable decline, with 338,723 packages in 2025 versus 590,840 in 2024. Bagged volumes decreased from 440,090 to 255,181, while clamshells fell from 60,830 to 18,764. Plain pack stocks declined from 88,490 in 2024 to 64,778 in 2025.
Overall totals
Across all varieties, the grand total of grapes in cold storage reached 10,776,298 packages on 30 September 2025, compared with 10,155,779 in 2024.
