The Government Courier has detailed Ukraine's decision to establish tariffs on Turkish cucumbers and tomatoes, ranging from 20.1% to 26.9%. These measures will be in place for five years. The Interdepartmental Commission on International Trade examined the pricing strategy of fresh vegetables and detected that Turkish suppliers are selling their produce at dumping prices within the Ukrainian market.
In response, to safeguard the local agriculture sector, these tariffs aim to present a level playing field for domestic producers. Vitaliy Koval, Ukraine's Minister of Agrarian Policy, clarified that the measure is designed to ensure equitable competition rather than targeting any particular nation.
"This decision is not against anyone. It is for fair competition. For Ukrainian farmers to have equal conditions in the market, to be able to invest in development, modernization, and new jobs," said Vitaliy Koval
The implementation of these tariffs is scheduled for July 17, 2025.
