Australia grows grape exports to Philippines

Australia's table grape industry, the largest fresh fruit exporter in the country, has made the Philippines its fourth-largest destination, with over 8,500 tons of grapes exported in 2024. This was shared during an event in Quezon City, where media guests explored the varieties available in the Philippine market.

Jeff Scott, CEO of the Australian Table Grape Association (ATGA), noted, "This season's grapes are among the finest we've ever exported." He attributed the quality to "warm sunny days, cool nights, and well-timed rainfall." The varieties include Autumn Crisp, known for its firm texture and mild flavor, and Candy Dreams, a juicy, seedless black grape. New to the market are Ralli Seedless and the Cotton Candy variety, noted for its unique flavor.

The ATGA is launching promotional campaigns in major Philippine retailers like The Marketplace, Shopwise, Robinsons Supermarket, and others. These activities aim to provide information on the taste, origin, and quality of Australian grapes. Luisa Rust from the Australian Trade and Investment Commission highlighted the importance of the Philippines as a trade partner, stating, "We are proud to continue strengthening Australia's close ties with the Philippines."

Both ATGA and Austrade anticipate ongoing growth in grape exports to the Philippines, with the four varieties available in supermarkets nationwide.
