In the first half of 2024, Chile's agricultural exports surpassed US$ 7 billion, marking an increase of almost 9% over the same timeframe in 2023. This growth is attributed to a collaboration strategy between the Undersecretariat of International Economic Relations and ProChile. ProChile's National Director highlighted the role of this partnership in expanding and enhancing Chile's global trade agreements. The appeal of Chilean fruits like plums, blueberries, and cherries was emphasized as a key factor in achieving these results.
Cherries experienced a record-breaking season, with exports exceeding US$ 2.2 billion between November 2023 and February 2024. Cherry exports in the first semester reached over US$ 1,961 million, a 26% increase year-on-year, with China being the primary market. Blueberry exports saw a 21.4% rise to US$ 403 million, with the United States, Germany, and the United Kingdom as top destinations. Plums also saw a significant uptick, with a 40% increase in export value to US$ 308 million. Peaches and nectarines followed suit, with a 25% growth in exports, amounting to US$ 164 million, mainly to China, the United States, and Mexico.
Additionally, kiwis and grapes exports increased by 13% and 17%, reaching US$ 139 million and US$ 931 million, respectively. The diversification and expansion of trade agreements, promotion of Chilean products, and the quality of exports were cited as pivotal factors in these achievements.
