3,400 tons of fruits and vegetables were brought to Russia's Volgograd region from Iran

In 2023, the Volgograd region received a substantial influx of 3.4 thousand tons of fruit and vegetable products from Iran.

The Regional Department Rosselkhoznadzor for the Rostov, Volgograd, and Astrakhan regions, as well as the Republic of Kalmykia, reported a remarkable 270% increase in the import of fruit and vegetable products compared to the previous year.

The majority of products were imported from Iran. Additional shipments arrived from Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Turkey, Georgia, and Turkmenistan. The assortment included cherries, kiwi, oranges, apples, persimmons, grapes, dates, tomatoes, aubergines, peppers, cabbage, and lettuce.

Rigorous phytosanitary control measures were implemented by the Volgograd branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Rostov Reference Center of Rosselkhoznadzor," encompassing the examination of 475 samples. The products were deemed compliant and authorised for entry into the region following expert assessments.
