With the aim of exporting more than 16,578 tons of horticultural products, producers from the region of Ica, in strategic alliance with Senasa, have officially kicked off the start of the 2023 blueberry export campaign.
The official launch took place in the presence of local authorities and producers, who pledged to continue working to increase blueberry exports and to uphold Peru's place as the leading exporter of this fruit.
The official opening of the season was held at the College of Engineers of Ica, where the chain partners received updated information about current procedures and work plans with various international markets.
According to Senasa data, the country has a total of 18,103 hectares of blueberries distributed in the provinces of Ica, La Libertad, Lambayeque, Piura, Ancash, and Lima. In 2022, the country exported more than 277,000 tons of blueberries.
The main destinations markets are the United States, China, Hong Kong, Thailand, Brazil, India, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, the United Kingdom, Uruguay, Canada, Guatemala, Singapore, France, the United Arab Emirates, Belgium, Dubai, Taiwan, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Netherlands, Panama, Spain, and Germany.
With the technical support of Senasa, this product has become the new crown jewel of Peruvian fresh produce exports. This year, the country has already made 350 shipments and carried out 125 cold treatments to export this fruit to China, Taiwan, and the United States.
