Peruvian agri exports already total US$2,133 million

Exports of agricultural products with added value during the first four months of the year reached US$2,133 million, an amount 8.8% higher than in the same period of 2022, according to the latest report from the Central Reserve Bank of Peru. The monetary entity specified that the result is explained "mainly, due to the increase in volumes shipped by 8.6% and prices by 0.3%." The increase in food sales abroad in April also contributed.

In the fourth month of the year, according to the Central Reserve Bank, "higher sales of fresh avocados were registered." This was reflected in shipments for US$521 million, which implied an increase of 7% compared to April 2022.

The volumes shipped abroad also showed a similar behavior, as did the prices, although these were to a lesser extent. “The volume of agricultural shipments increased by 6.2 percent on average compared to the same month in 2022, explained by shipments of avocados; while prices increased by 0.8 percent”, reported the BCR.

In line with the first results of the year, the export of blueberries would continue on a good path in 2023, according to what the logistics operator company Scharff forecasts. The growth in shipments would respond in part to the high demand from the main destinations: the US and the Netherlands.
