KitoZyme and Janssen PMP exclusive partnership -

Chitosan technology to be tested for post-harvest storage of fresh produce globally

KitoZyme, the developers of fungal chitosan and Janssen PMP, a division of Janssen Pharmaceutica NV, have signed an exclusive collaboration agreement to evaluate and develop KitoZyme technologies for post-harvest use on fresh produce.

The agreement aims to evaluate and develop KitoZyme's technologies for post-harvest use on fresh produce, leveraging Janssen PMP's expertise and resources in this field. The collaboration is set to pave the way for innovative solutions to address food waste globally. KitoZyme has granted Janssen PMP the exclusive right to evaluate KitoZyme chitosan technologies for post-harvest storage preservation of fruits and vegetables globally.

“Being able to control post-harvest pathogens and to extend fruits and vegetables shelf life with an effective natural compound such as KitoZyme’s chitosan is key in our development. This technology is the only chitosan produced from fungi already approved in Europe and USA for post-harvest use. Moreover, this technology is approved for Organic farming in some EU countries and is Vegan compliant,” said Geoffroy de Chabot-Tramecourt, Director R&D and Business Development at Janssen PMP.

“We are very excited to announce this partnership with Janssen PMP, a division of Janssen Pharmaceutica and a leader in its field. It fits very well with our vision to associate on a mutually exclusive basis our unique fungal sourced biopolymer into high value added applications,” reacted François Blondel, CEO and managing director of KitoZyme.
