The Chinese market was officially opened for Ecuadorian yellow pitahaya on Monday, April 3. This milestone was achieved thanks to the work and collaboration of many actors in both countries, the public sector, the private sector, farmers, exporters, and technicians. This event will mark the future of the country's agro-export sector, mainly its largest production area in the Palora Canton, as well as other smaller areas such as Northwest Pichincha, and Manabi, among others. Pitahaya is native to Palora, a region in which it has the “Pitahaya Amazónica de Palora” denomination of origin, thanks to its quality.

FLP Ecuador began operations in 1994, pioneering the export of exotic fruits from Ecuador. The first yellow pitahaya was exported to Europe in 1999. Since then, it has continued to export this delicious fruit to multiple destinations in addition to Europe: the United States, Canada, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Dubai, among others.
“Today, after 24 years, we are proud to announce that we have made the first shipment of yellow pitahaya from Ecuador to China. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our customer Good Farmer for trusting us to make this first export.”

Organizing this first dispatch was not an easy task given the high-quality standards and the requirements of the protocol agreed upon between both countries. FLP had been preparing for this moment for more than six months, a time in which its technical team redoubled its efforts to meet the required standards. It's worth highlighting the company's commitment and work with its producers, who invested considerable resources to meet the demands of this important market.
Once the fruit was harvested, it was pre-sorted and sent to the packing plant where it was carefully selected, washed, dried, and packaged. Then, Agrocalidad inspected that the shipment complied with the parameters established to green-light its export.
In addition, the FLP logistics team worked carefully with Agrocalidad to ensure that all documents were in order and that the cargo was handled with the necessary care so that it reaches its destination in optimal conditions.

“The arrival of our first yellow pitahaya shipment to our customer Good Farmer in China was awaited with great expectations. We believe that this wonderful, sweet, easy-to-consume fruit that is well known for its digestive properties, will be a great success among consumers.”
“This first export marks a milestone in our efforts to expand our exotic fruit markets. We are confident that will become a reliable and coveted supplier in the Chinese market thanks to the high quality of the fruit, our agricultural partners' fieldwork in the different producing areas of the country, and our exceptional customer service.”
