Agrícola Famosa, Brazil’s largest fruit exporter, has created a new company in the United Kingdom: Melon&Co. The company aims to improve service to a market that already accounts for 35% of its exports.
Currently, Melon&Co. already holds between 65% and 70% of the market share of melon and watermelon in the UK. It provides direct sales to supermarkets and other points of sale that were previously supplied by Fesa UK.
The goal of the new Famosa company is to supply the English market which currently receives 3,300 containers of fruit per harvest, and demand is year-round. Melon&Co is therefore signing partnerships with producers in Central America and Spain.
