BASF innovates melon and watermelon flavors

Multinational BASF is introducing new concepts in melons such as its Pearl range, cantaloupes that mark the cutting point, and promotes its mini skin of sapo melon line for export, among others. The multinational has focused its efforts on making known to professionals in the sector its new concepts and varieties in traditional export typologies, such as charentais and cantaloupe melons, in addition to its mini skin of sapo line, with a convenience format that adapts both to sales abroad and to the domestic market.

At cantaloupe, BASF introduces its Pearl range, with which “we want to make a difference”, says Enrique Ballester, BASF Meln Account Manager, who explains that its objective is “to offer the producer an unambiguous cut-off point, so as to avoid claims at destination, since, when the melon reaches the consumer, it is at its most optimal moment.” To do this, the melon turns from grayish to an attractive cream color.

BASF continues to consolidate its range of mini Piel de Sapo melons for export, which has two varieties (Kumara F1 * and Kudoru F1 *) with which it covers the national production cycle from June 1 to September 30, as well as the off-season cycle in Brazil from October 1 to almost March. With this line, they adapt the quintessential Spanish melon to a more convenient format, ideal for export, but also for the national market, where small family units proliferate. And they do it while preserving the melon flavor of a lifetime.
