As usual, Peru's agro-exports were mainly driven by sales of avocados, the sector's leading product. According to Peruvian Foreign Trade Society (Comex-Peru), exports amounted to US$754 million between January and September this year.
The association claims that this amount represents a 0.5%. increase as compared with the corresponding one from a year earlier. The value of shipments accounted for about 17% of Peru's total agro-exports in January-September.
The main destinations for Peruvian avocados were the Netherlands (US$251 million), Spain (US$164 million), the United Kingdom (US$62 million), and Russia (US$19 million). Furthermore, important shipments were sent to China (US$25 million) and Japan (US$21 million).
