Dr. Ahmed Al-Attar, head of the Central Administration of Agricultural Quarantine at the Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture, said that the Ministry's efforts have contributed to the opening of 7 new markets for the country's fruit and vegetable exports within 6 months, despite the difficulties created by the coronavirus crisis. Egyptian agricultural exports have reached all international markets.
He said that the opening of these markets has allowed the export of dates to Australia, oranges to New Zealand, potatoes to Mauritius, citrus fruits to Brazil, Argentina and Uzbekistan, and grapefruit to Indonesia.
He also stated that fruit and vegetable exports have reached many European markets. The list of products shipped includes citrus fruits, potatoes, onions, strawberries, beans, peppers, cucumbers, pomegranate, mangoes, grapes, garlic and guava.
The Central Administration of Agricultural Quarantine remains committed to the implementation of the new system for the export of vegetables and fruits, focusing on the opening of new markets and improving the traceability of those products.
The report showed that Egyptian citrus fruits stand out for their high quality, especially oranges, which have become a desirable product at a global level.
