Honduras will export cassava to the United Arab Emirates

According to authorities from the Honduran Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (SAG), cassava is a product with strong export potential. The country mainly produces cassava for domestic consumption, but it also exports it in small quantities.

Through SAG, the country has recently managed to open a new export market for this tuber. After holding a meeting with foreign investor Sheri Kasemi Daryush and the owner of a vegetable exporting plant located in Omoa (Cortes), the head of the SAG, Mauricio Guevara, confirmed that the country would soon export a shipment of Honduran cassava to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.

The shipment's safety is guaranteed thanks to the support of personnel from the National Agricultural Food Health and Safety Service (Senasa) and the National Program of Residues on Fruits and Vegetables.

A recent report by the Honduran National Program for Agricultural Food Development (Pronagro) establishes that the country exports more than 1,600 tons of cassava for more than $ 1.5 million dollars. The main cassava for export production areas in the country are the north coast, Colon, Atlantida, and Cortes, according to statistics from that program attached to SAG.
