Turkish apples are exported all over the world

Nigde, a city located in central Turkey, is known for its apples. Farmers in the city grow different varieties of apples and they recently started to harvest them.

Nigde Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Asim Bas announced that they expect to harvest 454 thousand 822 tons of apples this year in an area of 23 thousand 500 hectares.

"Our city ranks first in some agricultural products in Turkey. One of these is apple. We produce varieties such as Starking, Golden, Amasya (red and small local variety), Granny Smith and Gala. We are the biggest producer of Amasya apples in Turkey. In Nigde, farmers grow Amasya apples in an area of 15 thousand hectares." said Asim Bas.

He continued: "We produce high quality apples. The apples that we currently harvest are directly exported. We are the third largest apple producer in Turkey, however our apples are of the highest quality. We expect to have a good apple season. We export most of our apples to  countries such as India and China, the US and European countries."
