Exporters target 50 million USD this year
Hayrettin Ucak, chairman of the Aegean Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Association, announced that the black fig season started with high yields and that the product is of high quality.

Stating that the revenue from figs rapidly increases thanks to air freight, Ucak said: "In 2018 Turkey exported 39 million USD worth of black figs. In 2019, we expect this to exceed 50 million USD (45 million Euro). For this product, the average export price per kilo is 2,5 USD (2,25 Euro), we aim to reach a price higher than 3 USD (2,7 Euro)."

Last year, Turkey exported black figs to 40 countries, mainly to Germany, the UK and the Netherlands. 2,4 million USD (2,16 million Euro) worth of black figs were exported via air freight and most of these were destined to Hong Kong.
