The western Panamanian province of Chiriquí has the optimal relative humidity, temperature, and luminosity conditions for mushroom cultivation. A company located in Buena Vista, in this region, exports 2,000 kilograms of mushrooms a week to San Jose, Costa Rica.
According to MIDA technicians, the mushroom (Agaricus bisporus) is a species that has gained a great interest among consumers due to its nutritional qualities (as it is rich in vitamins), and it's widely used in national and international cuisine.
