After 17 years at New Covent Garden Market, Jo Breare has stepped down as General Manager of the Covent Garden Market Authority (CGMA) at the end of October.
Breare began her career at the Market as Facilities Manager before progressing through several roles, including five years as General Manager. During her tenure, she oversaw the start of the Market's ongoing redevelopment, aimed at transforming it into a modern and sustainable facility.

Her departure marks the end of a long period of service that coincided with major changes in the Market's operations and infrastructure.
Gary Marshall, Chairman of the Covent Garden Tenants Association (CGTA), acknowledged Breare's work and relationship with market tenants. "Jo was extremely popular with all of the Market's tenants. Throughout her time here, whichever role she was performing, Jo was always incredibly supportive of tenants; she understood how we operate and what we need to be competitive and make our businesses successful here," he said.
Marshall added that Breare played a key role in maintaining communication between tenants and management. "We knew that if there was a problem, Jo would do her very best to find a solution for us. She was an integral part of this community and, particularly in her time as General Manager, became an important listening ear for many."
He also noted her involvement in market activities. "Every time CGTA held an event or a fundraising activity, she was one of the first people to put a hand up to support us. On behalf of everyone here, her daily presence and her impact on our working lives will definitely be missed," he said.
Breare's departure comes as the Market continues its redevelopment phase, with the project moving toward completion in the coming years.
