Obstgroßmarkt Mittelbaden eG (OGM) looks back on a challenging but groundbreaking fiscal year. The 860 fruit producers achieved a total turnover of €26.6 million with the cooperative. Despite a decline in sales of around 25%, an annual surplus of EUR 153,276 was achieved. "We sold less but worked economically and efficiently," emphasized Managing Director Dirk Kastner at the general meeting in the Erwin Braun Hall. At the end of the year, OGM had 860 active producers,121 fewer than in the previous year. The decline in membership was mainly due to natural attrition and the withdrawal of passive members. To ensure economic efficiency, far-reaching measures were implemented in the 2024 financial year. "We made massive staff cuts, saving around half a million euros."

The cooperation with marketing partners Frutania and Fruitfels proved its worth once again. Together, they want to exploit synergies even more strongly in the future. Frutania already stores and sorts apples via OGM, which has invested in modern sorting and packaging technology for this purpose. "We are sorting, packing, and loading more than ever before – currently twice as many apples as in the previous year," reported CEO Martin Bähr (pictured above). Frutania is a strategically important partner as a strong marketer and berry expert, added Bähr. The plan is to consolidate the production facilities on the OGM site in the future. Frutania wants to invest in a modern logistics hall there, a clear signal for the location and the shared future.
