In week 41, the comparison between the current and previous week's average prices shows mixed trends across several fruits.
Apples (Cox's orange group) recorded a price decline. The average price this week stood at £1.22 per kilogram, compared with £1.36 per kilogram in the previous week. This represents a decrease of £0.14, or around 10%, indicating weaker prices for this apple variety.
Blackberries, on the other hand, showed an increase in value. The average price rose to £15.35 per kilogram from £13.73 the previous week, an upward change of £1.62 or about 12%. This makes blackberries one of the strongest performers in the current period.
Among stone fruits, plums (all other varieties) fell from £1.86 per kilogram to £1.52 per kilogram. The decline of £0.34 corresponds to an 18% drop compared with the previous week's average.
A similar downward trend was observed for strawberries, which decreased from £5.40 per kilogram to £4.08 per kilogram. The reduction of £1.32 represents a 24% decrease week on week, the sharpest decline among the fruits listed.
