"According to forecasts as of September 1st, 2025, French strawberry production is estimated at 70,200 tons for the 2025 campaign, down by 1,400 tons compared to 2024. In July 2025, prices were 1% lower than in 2024, but 6% higher than the 2020-2024 average for the same month," according to the Agreste economic outlook.
Yields impacted by hot summer weather
The national strawberry area for the 2025 campaign will be 3,669 hectares, a level comparable to last year. French production in 2025 is estimated at 70,200 tons, which is 2% lower than in 2024 and 2% below the 2020-2024 average. This drop can be explained by the very hot weather in the second half of June, which resulted in blossom losses, smaller and deformed fruit, and sanitary problems.
Marketing: A good end to the season
"In July, the market was favorable, despite a few batches of varying quality. Prices also held up well towards the end of the season. Between January and July 2025, strawberry exports (8,600 tons), including significant re-export volumes, and imports (52,600 tons) were up by 5% and 10% respectively, compared to the same period last year. The foreign trade deficit in volume terms (43,900 tons) increased by 11% from last year, during the period under review."
